Artist Statement
My thesis collection, Pearly Eyed, is the visual embodiment of my struggles with lupus. This disease causes my joints to swell and causes me immense physical pain. I wanted my collection to show the viewer what it is like for me to exist in my body. I express this through my silhouettes and take inspiration from the pearly eyed butterfly for my color palette, as purple butterflies are a symbol of lupus.
