Financial Aid for Graduate Programs

Moore College of Art & Design is now accepting applications for all Graduate Programs starting in fall 2022. Fellowship and Assistantship consideration deadline: February 1, 2022.

Moore offers Graduate Fellowship and Graduate Assistantship funding to support graduate candidates enrolled in our programs*. These awards are highly competitive, and applicants are required to submit all materials before the February 1 deadline.

Fellowship functions similarly to undergraduate scholarships. Fellowship is applied directly toward tuition. Candidates who receive an Assistantship are thoughtfully employed at Moore College in a position that allows for growth and learning, while also advancing the mission of the institution. In these positions, students are paid monthly in exchange for the agreed-upon work hours. Assistantship placements may be up to ten or twelve-month positions. Examples of Assistantship placements are below, however, applicants are encouraged to consider their own unique skill sets, and to communicate suggestions for expanded placement possibilities:

  • The Galleries at Moore Assistant
  • 3D Lab Technician - traditional media
  • 3D Lab Technician - new media
  • Library and Archive Assistant
  • BFA Department Chairs Assistant
  • Marketing and Communications

There are no additional forms to be considered for Graduate Fellowship and Assistantship. All accepted applicants will be automatically considered by the Graduate Fellowship Committee. However, all application materials must be received by February 1, 2020.

*Students must maintain full-time status to be eligible Fellowship or Assistantship.

Prospective Art Education candidates planning to enter the graduate program in the summer of 2022 should complete the 2021-2022 AND the 2022-2023 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) any time after October 1, 2021 and no later than February 1, 2022.

Prospective Socially-Engaged Art candidates planning to enter the graduate program in the fall of 2022 should complete the 2022-2023 FAFSA any time after October 1, 2021 and no later than February 1, 2022.

All returning students should submit the 2022-2023 FAFSA by May 1, 2022.

After submitting your FAFSA, you will receive a follow-up email from the U.S. Department of Education. Follow the email instructions to access your Student Aid Report (SAR). Review your SAR carefully to see if your FAFSA needs any corrections. If so, submit your corrections as soon as possible.

The SAR will also tell you if your FAFSA has been selected for verification. If selected, the college will request a Verification Worksheet and certain tax documents. Submit any requested verification documents within 30 days of your notice from the Financial Aid Office.

Complete Graduate PLUS Loan Request, PLUS MPN and PLUS entrance counseling at www.studentaid.gov.

www.fafsa.ed.gov or www.fafsa.gov is the site to complete the FAFSA. The FAFSA is a FREE application.

Moore College’s FAFSA code is 003300. The 2019-2020 FAFSA requires 2018 income data. The 2020-2021 FAFSA requires 2019 income data. The FSA ID, which consists of a user-created username and password, replaced the PIN effective May 2015. It allows users to electronically access personal information on Federal Student Aid Web sites as well as electronically sign a FAFSA.

While you are not required to have an FSA ID to complete and submit a FAFSA on the Web application, it is the fastest way to sign your application and have it processed. It is also the only way to access or correct your information online, or to pre-fill a FAFSA on the Web application with information from your previous year’s FAFSA.

An FSA ID can be created by visiting https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm

Moore College of Art & Design participates in the Federal Direct Loan programs. To be eligible for federal student loans, a student must be matriculated into a Masters degree program and enrolled for at least three credits per term. A student is also required to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); all colleges use this application to determine a student’s eligibility for federal student aid. Graduate students are encouraged to file the FAFSA between October 1 and February 1 for their first term of enrollment at Moore and by May 1 for subsequent years.

All fees and charges not covered by financial aid are the responsibility of the student.

The aggregate Stafford Loan limit per year for graduate students is $20,500. The total aggregate loan limit (including loans for undergraduate study) is $138,500. A graduate candidate may borrow under the Federal Plus Loan Program if they are credit worth and remain eligible after the Stafford Loan(s) and other financial assistance have been deducted from the graduate student’s financial aid budget.

First-time borrowers at Moore College of Art & Design will be required to complete online entrance counseling and MPN. As part of default prevention, the federal government requires all students to complete this counseling and MPN before the institution can disburse any Federal Direct Loan proceeds. Information regarding completing online entrance counseling and MPN is available through the Financial Aid Office. Exit counseling is required upon graduation or separation for all students who have borrowed a Federal Direct Loan.

The Financial Aid Office utilizes the Moore email system to communicate with students. Students are encouraged to check their Moore email account regularly for important deadlines, requests, and announcements. Logging into Self-Service under Current Students will give students access to their account balance and financial aid information.

Graduate students must re-file the FAFSA each year they wish to borrow federal student loans.
