Jonathan Wallis is Professor of Art History and Humanities in the Department of Liberal Arts at Moore College of Art & Design. He served as the Penny and Bob Fox Distinguished Professor from 2015-2018. His current research interests and scholarly work focus upon the intersection of ethics, socially engaged art and critical pedagogy. His work has been published in multiple venues including Art and the Public Sphere, Journal of Curatorial Studies, Papers of Surrealism, and Woman’s Art Journal. He has written essays on the post-Surrealist work of Salvador Dalí and served as guest editor for a special double-issue of Art and the Public Sphere focused on ethics (Intellect Press). As a curator, he’s presented exhibitions on local and international contemporary artists. Wallis is also a recipient of the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching (2013). In addition to his art historical scholarship, Jonathan is slated to publish three works of science fiction in 2021 under the pen name, Jonathan Nevair.
