Lynn Palewicz
Chair of Foundation, Associate Professor
Lynn Palewicz graduated with her MFA from the Yale School of Art and her BFA and MAT from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She is a recipient of several residencies including The Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (Maine), Yaddo (New York) and the Virginia Center for Creative Arts (Virginia). Her work has been presented in solo exhibitions at RUSH ARTS (New York, NY), Fleisher Art Memorial (Philadelphia, PA) and the Mildred I. Washington Gallery (Poughkeepsie, NY); and in numerous group exhibitions in the United States, at venues that include Metrospace (East Lansing, MI), The Kimmel Center (Philadelphia, PA), Goucher College (Baltimore, MD) and ArtSpace (New Haven, CT).
Through drawing, Palewicz examines and records unpredictable patterns created by plants, fabric and light across multiple surfaces. Her primary fascination with reflections aims to record the actual object alongside its distorted counter image. Stylistically, the drawings bridge the space between naturalism and the artist’s love of charcoal as a material and vehicle for visual expression.
In 2021, Palewicz was named as the recipient of Moore's Penny & Bob Fox Distinguished Professorship for 2021–2024.
