Maia Chao is an interdisciplinary artist who works in video, performance, sculpture and social practice. She is co-creator of social practice work, Look at Art. Get Paid. Chao has received commissions from The Shed, The New School, and Tufts University and shown at Brown University, the RISD Museum, Parsons School of Design, Cuchifritos Gallery, and Provincetown Art Association and Museum. Recent fellowships and residencies include: the Fine Arts Work Center (2017), Andrew W. Mellon Artist in Residence at Haverford College (2018), Asian American Arts Alliance of NYC (2019) and Pioneer Works residency (2019-20). Her work has been discussed in BOMB Magazine, The Paris Review and Hyperallergic. A Fullbright grantee, Chao holds a BA from Brown University and an MFA from RISD. She is a member of artist collective Vox Populi in Philadelphia.
