State Authorization

The National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA) logoMoore College of Art and Design has been approved to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements. The National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA) allows us to provide distance learning programs and coursework to residents of states other than Pennsylvania. NC-SARA membership, however, does not grant reciprocity or exempt us from state professional licensing requirements. As a result, licensing and/or certification requirements in Pennsylvania may not be recognized as sufficient to obtain a license in other states.

Professional Licensure Disclosure

The BFA in Art Education, Post-Baccalaureate in Art Education, and MA in Art Education with certification (concurrent) programs have been designed to meet the educational requirements for professional licensure or certification in Pennsylvania. Our Art Education programs meet the requirements of most states in the United States.

Students who are considering enrolling in one of our Art Education programs and who intend to pursue professional certification in a state other than Pennsylvania should contact the Director of Art Education, Lauren Stichter at lstichter@moore.edu and/or the appropriate state agency to seek guidance and information confirming certification requirements before beginning the program. Students should be aware that licensure and certification requirements are subject to change periodically and may require individuals to complete additional coursework, fieldwork, background checks, individual state licensing exams, specific fees, or other requirements to obtain licensure or certification in that state.

Complaint Process

In accordance with SARA requirements, complaints should first be registered and addressed through standard Moore College of Art & Design procedures. These can be found under "Grievance Procedure" in the Student Handbook. If an issue cannot be resolved internally, the party may contact the NC-SARA Pennsylvania State Portal Entity:
