History of International Study Program

Since 1899, Moore has expanded its students’ intercultural knowledge through travel and study opportunities to global destinations. These annual journeys will take you and your peers out into the world, providing new context for what you'll learn in the classroom. While immersing yourself in a different culture, you'll earn three-course credits and make a lifetime of memories.

Moore offers four competitive summer fellowships for juniors designed to expand students’ artistic horizons outside of the classroom. Three of them are designated for international travel—the Sis Grenald International Travel Fellowship and the Frieda Fehrenbacher International Travel Fellowship for $2,000, $2,500 and $2,500 respectively. For the other two—the Sarah Peter and the Harriet Sartain fellowships for $1,750 and $1,250 respectively, travel is encouraged, but not required.

Students compete for these fellowships in the spring of each academic year by writing a proposal outlining how the fellowship will support the development of their work and by installing a selection of their work in the Goldie Paley Gallery.

Moore students can access additional opportunities for international study through mobility programs that are offered. Moore College of Art & Design participates in the mobility program of the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design (AICAD). This is an informal relationship through which undergraduate students from Moore may spend one semester at a member institution. The Mobility program is open to students in their junior year. The student pays tuition to Moore, not the host institution, and must finance her own room and board. While there are a number of member institutions in the United States, the Canadian affiliates are as follows:
