Chair of Design Arts
Kathryn Dethier is chair of Design Arts at Moore College of Art & Design, where she has taught since 2009. She is an accomplished scholar, administrator and full professor in the fields of architecture and interior design. She joined Moore after having taught and served in administrative roles for more than a decade at Drexel University and Philadelphia University. Dethier’s interests include sustainable design, an enduring and evolving topic critical to the practice of architecture, and the intersection of design and humanitarian action for crisis responses to disasters, migration and immigration. She holds an MS in architecture and urban design from Columbia University, a BFA in architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design and a BS from Cornell University. View full profile


Daniel VelascoDaniel Velasco

Program Head, Assistant Professor
Daniel Velasco is a fashion illustrator whose compositions push the limits of the format. He has a master's degree in fine arts from Savannah College of Art and Design. Clients include names like Hollywood stylist Johnny Wujek, pop star Katy Perry, actress Bella Thorne, the Sherri Hill company and Charleston stylist Andrea Serrano. His work has been published in the United States in New York City, Los Angeles, Charleston, Cincinnati, Savannah and Hilton Head Island, and abroad in Canada, Hong Kong, Chile, Argentina, Colombia and Venezuela. Heather UjieHeather Ujiie 

Interdisciplinary Assistant Professor
Heather Ujiie grew up in NYC’s Greenwich Village, part of a family of artist educators, and believes her creativity comes from a lively bohemian childhood. She is an Interdisciplinary Assistant Professor at Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia, and her installations and artwork have been exhibited both nationally and Internationally. She has participated in exhibits at Hangaram Museum of art, and the Seoul Art Center in Korea, The Salon Art & Design Fair at the Park Ave. Armory in NYC, The State Museum of Pennsylvania, Delaware Art Museum, Hunterdon Museum of Art, Racine Art Museum, Delaware Center for Contemporary Art, Philadelphia International Airport, and the Samuel S.
