Designs by Colleen Durant ’19 (Illustration) and MiiAnn Williams ’19 (Fashion Design) have been selected to be turned into banners to hang in front of Moore's main entrance.
Their designs were chosen from a highly competitive group of entries, created by students in a range of majors.
"My banner was the most recent in a small series of abstract pieces I did over the course of my sophomore and junior years," Durant said. She said her inspiration for the composition was a mix of a tree, a river and a skeleton.
"I'm pretty excited to have my work on display," Durant said. "It will be nice to know that the work will still be up for the new students coming in next year after I've graduated!"
Williams' banner includes illustrations she made for her senior thesis collection titled Rich Pour.
"The main theme of my collection is the story of minority men gone missing and the wives, mothers and daughters are wearing and using the men's leftover clothes to make armor and to go find out why and where the men are," she said. "I wanted people to feel like they were transported to a different dimension, which is why I decided to go with the starry background."
We applaud and thank everyone who entered the contest!
Please be sure to pause and take a look at the winning designs the next time you enter or leave the building.
