Graphic Design Professor Gigi McGee recently returned from a sabbatical that allowed her to produce a poster series that celebrates the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment and the history of the women’s suffrage movement in this country.
“I’m an avid reader and I enjoy history and historical novels and biographies,” she said. “When I read these things, I’m always so surprised at how little I really do know about the history of my own country and history in general, and it’s always enlightening and this project was no different.”

McGee has worked as a design professional and educator for over 30 years in both Philadelphia and Los Angeles. She has been a full-time educator at Moore College of Art & Design for many years and her teaching experience includes California Institute of the Arts and Otis College of Art and Design.
She enjoyed a diverse professional background including entertainment, information graphics and environmental graphics, before opening her own studio in 1989. She has served on the board of AIGA Philadelphia for a decade, currently as legacy director. As co-director of education for AIGA Philadelphia, she co-organized many student-centered initiatives such as Feedback, the Mentor Program, This is my Philly, and several student competitions and exhibitions including Design for Good, BYOB (Bring Your Own Bag) and Campaign 2 Sustain.
A native of Philadelphia and a graduate of the University of the Arts, she is a longtime member of the local design community.
