Assistant Professor and Foundation Chair Lynn Palewicz recently returned from a one-semester sabbatical where she focused on the study of masterworks from three regional museums—including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Art and virtual visits to the Munch Museum.
Through drawing, Palewicz examines and records the unpredictable patterns created by plants, 
fabric and light across multiple surfaces. Her primary fascination with reflections aims to record the actual object alongside its distorted counter image. Stylistically, the drawings bridge the space between naturalism and the artist’s love of charcoal as a material and vehicle for visual expression.
Palewicz shared her discoveries during a virtual Art at Dinner presentation September 17, 2020. She received her MFA from the Yale School of Art, and her BFA and MAT from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She is a recipient of several residencies, including the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and the Virginia Center for Creative Arts. Her work has been presented in solo exhibitions at Rush Arts Gallery in New York, Fleisher Art Memorial, and the Mildred I. Washington Gallery in Poughkeepsie, as well as in numerous group exhibitions in the U.S. at venues including Metrospace in East Lansing, Michigan; The Kimmel Center; Goucher College in Baltimore; and Artspace in New Haven.
