Art & Human Behavior: Winter 2019 Art Education for Special Populations Symposium Wednesday, February 27, 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm Moore College of Art & Design, 1916 Race Street, Philadelphia
This symposium is designed to illustrate how the importance of positive behavior supports all students, especially those who have Emotional Behavioral Disorders. The focus will be on the discipline of visual art-making and creating alternatives for each teacher's unique classroom.

Keynote Speaker: Samantha Davis
Davis is the lead art teacher at Coney Island Prep Charter in Brooklyn, NY. Before moving to New York, she completed an action research thesis, "Exploring the Effects of Art-Making on Racial Climate in a Multicultural Classroom," at Moore College of Art & Design, in accordance with a Masters in Art Education with an Emphasis in Special Populations. Davis' experience in positive behavior replacement plans was created while working at First Philadelphia Prepatory Charter School, Anthony Wayne Academy and Hope Partnership for Education in Philadelphia. Each of these environments are inclusive for diverse learners and multicultural populations.
