Moore College of Art & Design is joining iconic buildings across the city in lighting up the night with blue light to honor the bravery of health care workers.
The "Philly Shines Blue" initiative began April 7, when Moore, the Franklin Institute, the Free Library, the Philadelphia Art Museum and other buildings turned on blue lights in honor of World Health Day and the heroic health care workers and first responders battling the COVID-19 pandemic.
The initiative originated with the Parkway Council, a nonprofit coalition of cultural and educational institutions, business and residences in the Parkway Museums District.
"It quickly became apparent that many others were looking for a visual way to honor and show support for health care workers, whose courage is now being tested on a daily basis,” said Parkway Council Executive Director Judi Rogers.
"This is an important way for our industry and our great city to send a heartfelt and collective ‘thank you’ to the entire health care community – locally, regionally and nationally – as they work tirelessly to fight this pandemic and keep us safe,” said Kristine A. Kiphorn, BOMA Executive Director.
"Philly Shines Blue" continues April 14, 21 and 28.
