Brianna Hayes ’20 is the newest member of the Board of Managers.

Hayes graduated May 16 with a degree in art education. She will be serving a two-year term as a voting member.

“As the former vice president of Student Government, I hope to offer the perspective of the student body in my vote,” she said. “Additionally, my dream is to work in higher education. Serving on the board will give me wonderful insight into how colleges function, plan and make decisions.”

A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Hayes was placed as a first-year into the accelerated drawing foundations course. She was the recipient of the Dean’s Scholarship, the Fanny Brennan Scholarship for Excellence in Painting, and as a senior was the recipient of the Deborah Deery ’01, ’12 Memorial Award for Excellence in Art Education. Hayes' artwork was also selected for the cover of the spring 2020 Moore magazine.

“I plan on spending the next two to three years working in K-12 education while further developing my painting skills,” she said. “After this period, I will enter an MFA program in painting or studio art, and from there I hope to become a professor and teach at the college level.”

She is eagerly looking forward to attending the Rome Art Program, a monthlong painting program in Italy, in 2021.
