A new collaboration has Moore Interior Design students working with Graphic Design students.

Interior Design students Giovani Anggasta and Amity Tanner participated in the pilot program along with Graphic Design students Alissa OutwaterAmanda HuttonOlivia StevenLarissa LucasFrankie Patterson and Tyler Shea.

"We were looking to work on a collaborative project with another department so the students could have the benefit of learning from an integrated team," said Interior Design Assistant Professor Francine Martini. "They needed to communicate their ideas to an allied discipline such as graphic designers. It worked out well and the students really liked working together."

Tanner's design was for a Levi Strauss pop-up shop, which had a Western theme featuring reclaimed wood, a denim-covered wall and an Airstream camper that was cut in half. Anggasta's idea was for a Uniqlo store, with a theme of "stepping up your basic," featuring a design with a nod to the movie Rocky and the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

"We presented our brand, our precedent studies and mood boards for the overall concept of our space to the Graphic Design students," Tanner said. The Graphic Design students could then choose which Interior Design student they wanted to work with.

Tanner and Anggasta then met with the students and exchanged ideas, discussed plans for the spaces, and talked about what the graphics communicated to the relation of the space. After deliberations with Interior Design department members, Tanner selected Alissa Outwater to work with, and Anggasta chose Larissa Lucas.

Once the designs were completed, Anggasta and Tanner presented their projects in a critique. Critics included faculty member Don Rushton; alumni Katelynn Perri and Michelle Reese; senior Interior Design students Carmeen Hutchinson and Autumn Davis; and Francesco Sgrazzutti.

The projects are on display at the Center For Architecture’s Exhibition through April 26.
