Sophomore Fashion Design students took their Apparel Fabrics class to Fox Commons for knitting and a movie March 28.
The students pulled the new furniture in the commons into a semicircle to watch the Sally Field movie Norma Rae, which is set in a textile factory in North Carolina.
"This is not a necessary part of it --it's just that in our school we have a lot of students who learn how to do machine knitting and they don't get to learn how to do hand-knitting, so I just said, 'Let's do it, it will be fun.'"
The students enjoyed popcorn while they practiced their stitches.
