On February 21, 2018, audience members experienced a lunch-time lecture by Mehdi Saeedi, looking back on two decades of his creative work.

Born in Iran and educated both there and in the UK, his design vision is influenced by his focus on contemplation of Eastern aesthetics, heritage and tradition.

Beyond the lecture, a group of Moore Graphic Design students had a hands-on opportunity to work directly with Saeedi and learn how uses his experience in graphic design, Persian calligraphy, type, and typography to transform Farsi letters into different forms and shapes, rendering unique conceptions in graphic design.  In the workshop, they designed self-portraits using Persian calligraphy and produced posters and t-shirts.
