Moore's Black Student Union (BSU) invited Yolanda Jernigan '03 to speak during Black History Month.

Jernigan, who was a Fashion Design major, designs gear for professionals wrestlers under her company name GIMICKS247.

Jernigan had been a member of Moore's BSU when she was a student.

"To hear that Moore had a BSU again that has a nice size group and is active made me very happy and want to give back," Jernigan said.

Jernigan talked about her time as a student at Moore, and how she persevered in her major, even though she didn't know how to sew when she came in as a first-year student.

Junior Destinee Williams, secretary for the BSU, appreciated the message Jernigan had for the students.

"She talked about how to be resilient, to just keep going, even though sometimes you want to give up," Williams said.

"If you can graduate from the tough curriculum and workload of Moore, you can do anything," Jernigan told the group.
