Philadelphia, PA – Ten Moore College of Art & Design alumni will pitch their business plans to a panel of professional jurists at the Your Part-Time Controller Business Plan Competition being held Tuesday, February 5, from 10:30 am to 1 pm in Graham Auditorium at Moore, 1916 Race Street, Located on The Parkway. The winner will take home $3,000 to put toward her business and take it to the next level.

This is the first time Moore alumni have been invited to participate in the competition. First, each business owner attended a series of workshops last fall at the Wharton Small Business Development Center at Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania to help them develop robust business plans under the guidance of a successful entrepreneur/Wharton MBA. Moore supported the alumni by contributing funds toward their Wharton SBDC tuition. An estimated 30 percent of Moore alumni go on to start their own businesses or generate income from their creative output. The 10 alumni businesses that were selected are: Marissa Cianciulli ′12, Super Signs; Sherita Cuffee ′07, Viscera NY Bridal; Alana Oates ′10, Llani Shoes; Katie O’Hara ′12, Katie O’Hara Design, LLC; Peaches (Alexis) Piechnik ′13, Peach Pie Design; Stephanie Price ′13, NUMiNOUS mag; Lauren Ramer ′16, FreakHead; Alexandra (Stepnoski) Schoenstadt ′14, Schoenfilms; Victoria Wright ′12, Victoria Wright Atelier; Sarah Squadrito ′11, Squidynamite.

When asked how the Wharton SBDC workshop would impact her business, Alex Schoenstadt said, “It really made me think about who I am as a videographer and how I fit in the wedding industry. By being forced to think about my value proposition, I grew considerably because I was finally able to develop a much stronger connection to my message and spread it throughout my marketing and sales pitch. Everything’s falling into place for me as a result!”
