Two outstanding Moore Illustration seniors have been recognized for their leadership skills and community engagement.

Stephanie Weinger is the recipient of the Marian Locks Senior Award, and Ashley Monteiro was awarded the Happy Fernandez Leadership Prize.

"Stephanie and Ashley’s involvement and engagement in the community, and their ability to articulate how their experiences have shaped them, make them ideal candidates for these awards," said Moore President Cecelia Fitzgibbon. "Stephanie and Ashley would make Marian Locks and Happy Fernandez very proud."

Both students will be formally recognized at Commencement on May 16. Monteiro will be speaking at the in-person Commencement event this fall about how her leadership experiences have influenced her.

The Marian Locks Award provides a graduating senior in any discipline at Moore College of Art & Design with the opportunity to jumpstart her career in art and design. The prize may to be used to supplement income, enable post baccalaureate internships or service, facilitate postgraduate travel and research, or help support graduate study. This competitive award pays tribute to Philadelphia icon Marian Locks’ pioneering spirit and vision, and her commitment to contemporary artists.

The Happy Fernandez Leadership Prize is given in honor of Dr. Happy Fernandez, who served as Moore's president for 13 years. It is given to a graduating senior who has been a part of Moore’s student leadership programs.
