The COVID-19 pandemic may have closed the doors on classrooms at Moore, but Admissions Director Jonathan Squire says his team is ready to welcome accepted students for fall 2020.
Accepted Students Day is being held Saturday, April 4, in a new way — in a virtual space. Prospective students will be checking in through the video communications app Zoom.
"We are excited to meet with you in this virtual way," he said to prospective members of the Class of 2024. “Moore is here to support and help you through this difficult time."
The day will begin at 1 p.m. with a virtual welcome from President Cecelia Fitzgibbon. Dean of Students Joshua Wilkin will talk about the student experience at Moore, and then a panel featuring the admissions staff will be available to answer questions.
"Then from there, students will be heading to various Zoom rooms for sessions with the faculty," Squire said. There is also a special Zoom presentation for parents.
While Moore's presence on the beautiful Benjamin Franklin Parkway is always a highlight for accepted students and their families to experience on their special day, Squire said many of them have already visited Moore. He said there is one big benefit of holding a virtual Accepted Students Day.
"Students from places such as California are able to attend the event without them having to pay for an expensive flight," he said. The start time of 1 p.m. was chosen with students from other time zones in mind.
Squire said there will be other opportunities throughout the month of April for prospective students to engage with Moore. He said his team is ready now and after Accepted Students Day to help.
"Please keep in touch and we will get you connected to people on campus to answer your questions," he said.
