A sold-out crowd enjoyed the festive atmosphere in the new Fashion District at 901 Market Street Friday night for Moore’s 2019 F/W Showcase.

After an introduction by Moore President Cecelia Fitzgibbon, models strutted the runway in the beautiful open space of the new shopping center, highlighting work by sophomores, juniors and seniors.

Sophomores took blue and white dress shirts and upcycled them, turning them into ruffled summery pants, dresses with smart-looking collars, multicolor shorts, flouncy skirts, cute pinstripe crop tops with ruffles that paired with color-block ankle pants, and asymmetrical dresses that wowed with bare shoulders.

Juniors presented runway-worthy looks that featured yards of tulle and satin, interesting streetwear, colorful puffy jackets and layered office-chic garments.

Seniors presented looks that included long jackets over thigh-high slit skirts in earth tones and black, and denim paired with neon.

Pumping music that got everyone in the mood was provided by Mr. Hollywood DJ. Century 21 Stores sponsored the show. Event partner was Philly Fashion Week.

After deliberations by judges Jodie Schmidt, field visual manager for Century 21 Stores, and Kevin Parker, co-founder and CEO of Philly Fashion Week, prizes were awarded to Ciani Colon Sicard for Best Repurposed Design Project Sophomore 2019, and to Casey Quinn, Best Mini-Collection Junior 2019.

Fashion Design faculty includes department chair Nasheli Juliana Ortiz Gonzalez, Sara Keel, Richard Killeaney, Christie Torgerson and Daniel Velasco.

Seniors will present their collections May 15 at the S/S Fashion Show to be held at Barnes Foundation.
