Naomieh Jovin '17 has been selected for Philadelphia Photo Arts Center's 2020-21 artist residency.
She is one of four artists selected from 113 applicants for a four-week residency in PPAC's Artist Lab to advance ongoing projects and create new work. In addition to access to the Artist Lab, each artist will receive a $2,500 honorarium and a $1,000 for credit for ink and paper.
The program provides talented, committed and self-directed artists with financial support, access to high-end facilities and education. The mission of the artist residency is to advance the residents' artistic practice in a meaningful way.
Earlier this year, Jovin was selected to take part in Mural Arts Philadelphia's inaugural Philadelphia Fellowship for Black Artists.
Jovin graduated from Moore in December 2017 with a major in Photography & Digital Arts. Her photography was on display in the In Conversation: Visual Meditations on Black Masculinity exhibition at The African American Museum in Philadelphia from September 2019 to March 2020.
Jovin is one of six alumni whose artistic practices explore themes of “place” at the Here & There: Alumni Invitational Exhibition, opening in January 2021 at The Galleries at Moore. She’ll be showing seven new photographs that position the body in unfamiliar settings. See more of her work @njovn.
