The Student Run Gallery and Moore's Black Student Union are working together on a new exhibition focusing on aspects of the #BlackLivesMatter movement that relate to liberation, and all Moore students are invited to participate.
"Discussions around community mobilization, mutual aid, liberation, and community healing and their relationships with art and design were an important part of the planning process," said faculty advisor Heather Ujiie. "The students want to focus on the ways the movement has fostered a surge in these types of social engagement and activism happening specifically in Philadelphia."
The exhibition is titled Black Lives Matter Philly. The call for submissions is open to all Moore students. Please submit 8 x 8 inch artwork in any medium that reflects the themes. Send digital artwork submissions to Moore.blackstudentunion@gmail.com. Drop off physical artwork submissions to The Galleries at Moore front desk Wednesday through Friday, 11 am to 5 pm. The submission deadline is February 26.
The SRG wall is now being used as an advertising campaign for the project. The SRG Committee created a flyer for the call and wheat-pasted them to cover the gallery wall in Wilson Hall so that its attention-grabbing graphics don’t go unnoticed by the Moore community. The exhibition will open March 12 and the SRG Committee is organizing a virtual event/reception to celebrate.
