Sustainability is the theme of the new exhibition on view on the fourth floor of Wilson Hall.
SuRGe: Sustainability features artists who use sustainable practices or promote the protection of the environment from pollution, deforestation and wasteful practices through a wide variety of mediums. Each poster and label was printed on 100 percent recycled paper, and no waste was created with the installation of this exhibition. The show runs through early May. Student Government sponsored the opening reception for the Student Run Gallery (SuRGe).
"We surveyed the departments and asked about what they do to be eco-friendly," said Student Government President Senia Lopez.
The show statement asks: "We have 12 years to change, what is Moore doing now?" Lopez said 12 years is what environmental scientist say is the timeline for when serious change must be made.
"Our generation is in a unique position where we will see the major effects of climate change in our lifetime, but we are also within the timeline to be able to prevent some major things from happening," Lopez said.
Artists participating in the show include Nina Bonaduce, Courtney Warren, Sidney Mesa, Senia Lopez, Sarah Barden, Jenny Song, Chianna Mac, Kimberly Ismael, Bella Frengel, Michaelah Flanigan, Emma Cortellessa and Arianna Harder.
