As a follow-up on the College’s new booster requirement, we are implementing an additional COVID-19 testing requirement in the wake of the Omicron variant’s spread.

All spring 2022 residential housing students, including those with stated medical/faith-based vaccination exemptions, will need to present a negative COVID-19 test result dated up to 48 hours (2 days) before moving into the residence halls.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Residential Students with the last names A – H can move in on Saturday, January 15 between 9 am – 5 pm.
  • Residential Students with the last names I – P can move in on Sunday, January 16 between 9 am – 5 pm.
  • Residential Students with the last names Q – Z can move in on Monday, January 17 between 9 am – 5 pm.
  • When you arrive on campus, you will need to present a paper copy of your negative test result to a Housing Department staff member at a sign-in desk in the campus lobby.
  • The negative COVID-19 test result must clearly show your name, date of birth and date of test.
  • A COVID-19 home test result will not be accepted.

The College will be closed starting 5 pm, December 17 through Sunday, January 2; therefore, should you have any questions about your move in day, you can direct them to Julia Parrick, Coordinator for Residence Life & Housing after January 2 at jparrick@moore.edu. We advise all residential students to arrange for this testing early, so as to accommodate travel plans. Testing is available through your city, county and state health department sites. In addition, major pharmacy chains such as CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens and local urgent care centers can schedule appointments for testing.

Throughout the winter break, please be vigilant in following CDC guidelines for prevention, especially if you are traveling or spending the holidays with others.

When move-in day arrives, if you are not feeling well or have any symptoms that could be COVID-related, such as fever, cough or body aches, do NOT plan to move in until you are symptom-free and have obtained a negative COVID-19 test.

Please note that this requirement is in addition to the College’s requirement for booster shots by February 1 or within 30 days of eligibility. See moore.edu/coronavirus or yesterday’s email for details.

It is our hope that these measures will aid us in continuing our usual move-in and spring semester activities. As always, thank you for looking out for yourselves and each other, following health and safety guidelines, and being proactive members of the Moore community. Have a wonderful winter break and best wishes for a creative and healthy 2022!

What to Do If You Experience Symptoms of COVID-19:

Residential Students:

  • Remain in your dorm room and immediately contact the Director of Student Health Services for testing and instructions.
  • Arrange to see a healthcare provider.
  • Contact your faculty regarding any class absences.

Commuter Students:

  • Remain at home and immediately contact the Director of Student Health Services.
  • Arrange to see a healthcare provider
  • Contact your faculty to alert them of class absences.
  • You will need to provide a note to Student Health Services from your healthcare provider that states you have recovered from illness before returning to campus.

Employees:

  • Stay home and contact your immediate supervisor or department chair, the Director of Human Resources AND your primary care provider.
  • Before returning to work, you should be free of a fever for at least 24 hours without the use of any medication. You will also need to provide a physician’s note clearing you to return or negative results from a COVID-19 test.
  • Keep in contact with your supervisor or department chair until you are able to return to work. During this time, employees should use their available sick leave time, in accordance with our Sick Leave policy.
  • Employees caring for an immediate family member showing flu-like symptoms can use sick time without the restriction of three days, which is indicated in our general Sick Leave policy.
