Moore’s Graduate Studies community consists of unique programs in Socially-Engaged Art, Socially-Engaged Studio Art and Art Education with an Emphasis in Special Populations that prepare motivated people of all identities with the skills, knowledge and resources to become professional artists, designers and teachers. Here are exciting updates happening with graduate alumni.
Huewayne Watson MFA '18 presented at the College Art Association in February, sharing a paper on the AHAA panel "Votes for Women," and has been working on an exhibition at the African American Museum of Philadelphia on the work of Moore's first African American alumna Anna Russell Jones. It was set to open March 20th but has been postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Watson is also featured in the fall exhibition Rust and Blood as part of the FotoFocus Biennial 2020, Wave Pool Arts, Cincinnati, Ohio. You can read more about his work here.
Laura Petrovich-Cheney MFA '11 has work featured in “Material Memory” by Alia Jeraj, American Craft Magazine, February/March 2020 issue. Her work has been featured in the solo exhibition Reconstructions at the Karl and Helen Berger Gallery, Kean University, since February but the school is now closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Suki Valentine MFA '17 recently showed her work at A.I.R. Gallery’s Fe*Mail*Art: 2020 Postcard Exhibition in Brooklyn. You can see Valentine’s work here. She also has an upcoming solo exhibition “UNDER WRAPS: HIDDEN HISTORIES / OPEN SECRETS” at Mémoire de l'Avenir Gallery in Paris. The exhibition was set to open in early April and be on view until May 8, 2020. The gallery has many unknowns at the moment, but published this lovely statement about its work in general: “This global stop invites us to redefine our relationship with others, our social relationships, and to reinvent our way of living together. Arts and culture will be our tools, as powerful and essential mediators to imagine, propose, act and open horizons.” Read the full statement here.
