Art pieces by Graphic Design major Carlye Kalmes and Fine Arts major Monica Newswanger, both seniors, have been selected in Moore's annual banner artwork contest.
Bold and colorful, the two designs were selected from among a record number of submissions. The works will be featured on large banners hanging outside Moore's main entrance in time for Commencement May 12.
Kalmes, from Delran, N.J., said their work, which features 18 different colorful graphics, has many different meanings for them.
"I wanted to create something that everyone could identify with," they said. "The abstract figures could represent different people, moods, feelings, personalities, etc. I'm hoping that everyone looks at it differently."
Kalmes said they were surprised to be selected.
"It definitely gave me a big confidence boost to finish my last semester strong," they added.
