THE FIRST STEP OF YOUR NEW CAREER
POST-BACCALAUREATE IN ART EDUCATION
Moore’s Post-Baccalaureate program in Art Education is designed for those who have an undergraduate degree in fine arts and who want to launch an exciting new career as an art teacher. Course requirements include proven teaching and learning practices in contemporary art education. Admission is based on college transcripts and portfolio review.
Candidates who possess an undergraduate degree in fine arts can become certified through one of two programs: the MA with certification (Concurrent Program) and the Post-Baccalaureate Certification with MA (dual program).
- The Concurrent Program combines certification and master’s classes into an integrated program. Students in this program immediately begin graduate courses in their first summer term, beginning more quickly to identify and develop a thesis project.
- The Dual Program is comprised of both traditional post-baccalaureate courses leading to the certification and MA courses. Students begin with post-baccalaureate courses and transition to the standard MA, setting the path to their thesis.
The Art Education Certification Program offers:
- Evening and weekend courses, designed for professionals, over three or four semesters
- Option to combine certification with Moore's one-of-a-kind MA in Art Education with an Emphasis in Inclusive Practices
- Student teaching experience in Philadelphia-area schools and Moore's Young Artists Workshop program, for grades 3–12
- The ability to apply for a Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate after successfully completing the coursework, student teaching and Praxis exams
